Hello! I’m Bri and I’m a writer, editor and communications professional based on Vancouver Island.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Victoria in Anthropology (Major) and Professional Writing, Publishing and Journalism (Minor) in 2010. I have worked in publishing, marketing, communications, and human resources for the past 15 years. In 2011, I worked as a book promotions specialist before becoming a full-time communications and HR professional.
I’ve kept up my passion for writing by freelancing over the years, both as an editor and as a fitness and health writer for several online and in-print magazines (most notably Impact Magazine and Get Out There Magazine). I also have a background in fitness; I was an NSCA certified strength and conditioning coach and registered yoga teacher for a number of years, and had my own personal training business.
Since becoming a mom in 2019, I haven’t had as much time for writing (or anything else, for that matter). I have, however, spent hours and hours each day reading books to my children. I know what I love to read to them as a parent (anything by Julia Donaldson), and what stories they love to hear (anything about animals, mermaids, trains, boats, magic and nature). Writing and illustrating children’s books is something I have always wanted to do, and now that I have a little bit more “me” time in my days, I’ve started to write the stories I always wanted to read to my kids, as well as a few novels that I’ve been dying to get out of my brain.
I’m currently querying a few stories, but will likely self-publish in the future as I’d love to see these stories in print for my own kids to read.
I currently live in Victoria with my husband, two kids, and three dogs (one of them is Indy, pictured above).
